The song is called “Stick Together”, which directly refers to the slogan of the Championship and encourages team cooperation.
“Stick Together is about the strength that exists in us and that together we can do everything, achieve success and win,” says Alicja Szemplińska. “I would love this track to empower handball players. I know how much time, dedication and work it costs to prepare for such a championship and I really admire everyone who will play at Polish and Swedish pitches in January ”.
Just as the Championship has two organizers, the same song was created by a Polish-Swedish duo. “Stick Together” was created with the Swedish producer Joakim Buddee, responsible for another Polish artist’s Margaret 2014 platinum album “Add The Blonde“, and Jade Ell, the songwriter. “My stay in Stockholm was a very inspiring time for me. A few songs were created during our sessions, but we felt unanimously that Stick Together would be it,” adds Alicja.
“The championship is organized by two countries divided by the sea, so teamwork will be the key to success – just like in sports. We want to stick together: as organizers, fans, friends of handball. We believe that the piece prepared by Alicja and Joakim will appeal primarily to a younger audience and will help build interest in the tournament, which is the greatest event in the history of Polish handball, “says Tournament Director Grzegorz Gutkowski.
The first match and the Opening Ceremony will take place on January 11th in Katowice. Alicja will perform the song Stick Together live for the first time, and the Polish handball team will play against the French Olympic champions at 21:00. The final matches and the Closing Ceremony of the event will take place on January 29th in front of 20,000 spectators at the stadium in Stockholm.
The hosts of the 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship will be Katowice, the Silesian Voivodeship, Kraków, Małopolska, Płock, Mazowsze and Gdańsk (in Poland) as well as Goteborg, Malmo, Stockholm, Kristianstad and Jonkoping (in Sweden).
