24 teams already qualified for WC 2023

Nine teams from Europe have just qualified to 28th IHF Men’s World Championship as their continental qualification come to an end. We already know 24 from 32 participants of Final Tournament.

Belgium, Portugal, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Hungary, Iceland, Germany, Serbia and Croatia have won their qualifiation games and secure spots at 28th IHF Men’s World Championship.

Each host country could assign a team to a host city, therefore Norway will play in Group F in Krakow, Spain are due to play in Group A, also in Krakow. Denmark, the reigning world champions, were assigned to Group H in Malmö. Germany will compete in Group E (Katowice), Iceland in Group D (Kristianstad) and Croatia in Group G (Jönköping).

„We would like to warmly welcome all the teams already qualified for WC 2023. The most important message for fans from Norway, Spain and Germany is that ticket for their games are already on sale” the Tournament Director in Poland of the 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship, Grzegorz Gutkowski, said.

Looking at the qualified nations, the Men´s WC 2023 will be the best championship ever. 32 teams, all very qualified and skilled, and as the organizor of the Swedish WC, we are welcoming alla nations and fans to Sweden and also to the final weekend in Stockholm.”, sais Krister Bergström, CEO Handbolls-VM 2023 in Sweden.

The preliminary round draw of the 28th IHF Men’s World Championship, which is going to be a spectacular event reflecting the prestige and importance of tournament, will take place in Katowice on 2 July 2022, with the “Spodek” Arena in Katowice also due to host the first game of the event and the opening ceremony on 11 January 2023.

The preliminary round will be played in two venues in Poland, with Katowice and Krakow hosting two groups each. The other four groups will play in Sweden: in Gothenburg, Jönköping, Kristianstad and Malmö. Poland will play in Group B (Katowice), while Sweden decided to play in Gothenburg, in Group C.

Katowice, Krakow, Gothenburg and Malmö will also host the main round groups. President’s Cup is scheduled to take place in Plock, Poland. Gdansk, Poland, is due to host two quarter-finals and a semi-final, with the other two quarter-finals, a semi-final and the placement matches 1-8 including the final match of the World Championship set to be played in the Tele2 Arena in Sweden’s capital Stockholm.

Tickets for all 28th IHF Men’s World Championship venues are available for purchase on handball23.com. More than 80000 tickets have already been sold.
